Jack Hicks-Flynn CPsychol is a Chartered Sport & Exercise Psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and British Psychological Society (BPS). He has Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Applied Sport & Exercise Psychology, as well as the professional Qualification in Sport & Exercise Psychology (QSEP).
Our Mission
Jack is the Professional Development Phase (PDP) Sport Psychologist at West Ham United FC, as well as Director at Mentology Ltd. Jack has also held positions at Luton Town FC and Portsmouth FC, where he led the delivery of psychological provision. He specialises in the delivery of psychological provision to professional and amateur athletes all of ages and backgrounds, with the aim of improving performance and personal wellbeing. Additionally, Jack works extensively in high-performance settings both in the sporting and corporate domains delivering systemic, practical and evidence-based provision to organisations and sports teams to promote a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) which ensures the psychosocial and emotional needs of individuals are valued, understood and acknowledged.
In his work with individual clients, Jack offers a warm and non-judgmental approach which allows him to effectively build rapport and establish trust within the therapeutic relationship. Through taking an integrative approach to his work, Jack encourages the holistic development of others through specialising in the use of techniques grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Existential & Humanistic approaches and Psychological Skills Training (PST).
